I took a chance of gifting two decks to my 19 yo son as a gift for successfully completing A&P2 (9 week summer class). He was thrilled. Very impressed with the quality of the cards as well as all the detailed info. Buying surprise gift for adult children is hit or miss but you've made it easy!!

The quality is phenomenal. The cards are thick and hearty. The artwork is beautiful and I have learned so much just by using these cards a handful of times. My resident/fellow/attending friends absolutely love them and I will have to oblige so they can enjoy and learn as well. The QR code is so cool.

I love medicine/science, the hidden details & Easter eggs, and the pharmacology throughout the deck. What surprised me most was the extra fold on the card box for the opening flap, the arrangement of drug indications/side effects, and the high-quality feel while still looking and being able to shuffle/play with them. They're medically usable, playing usable, and look like collectibles, but can still be used.

I'm a psychiatry resident, hoping to organize a psychiatry poker night / study session using these flashcards. They're very well designed. I like the artwork as well, but the patterns and psychopharmacology is why I purchased. Great job.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the Poker Pharmacopeia playing cards. I've actually purchased several of the original decks to give out as gifts to family, friends, and fellow nurse practitioners. I love the concept and the execution so much that with the newly released set, I ended up purchasing an additional one.. one to keep pristine on display and one to actually use.

I collect playing card decks. These were just too interesting and related to my profession to pass up on. I previously bought the Narcotics deck, very impressed with both the quality of the cards and the information contained within each one. Would love to see a deck for Benzodiazepines or CNS Stimulants as well.

The cards!!!!! OMG!!!! They are awesome! You put an enormous amount of effort into them and the detail reflects that. I was half-way through the antibiotic deck before the QR codes stood out. That was a very nice touch. The cards have so many Easter Eggs.

I got the Narcotic deck, and it's AWESOME. Unique concept, love the care and detail. I got my additional 3 decks this week, they're awesome too. I love the evolution and refinement between the Narcotic deck and the new ones. Would love to see cardiac cards or BP meds as themes.

Time and time again I'm disappointed in playing cards that are cheaply made. Even the US Playing Card Company has sold me decks with sub-par feel. Anything less than linoid or air cushion finish feels like garbage. Quality confirmed. These blew my mind.

Pharmacy Week was coming up and this deck is a great gift idea. I've always struggled to find unique, high-quality gifts for pharmacy teams. I hang out with nerds, doctors, and healthcare professionals who love things like this. I bought 10 decks, and it worked out great.

I got to show my friends who are pharmacists and technicians.. they all thought it was really cool. It's a little niche, nerdy thing, and there's not a lot of that for pharmacy people. This fills a niche market that desperately needs attention.

I was a little skeptical at first because there are so many card decks on the market. But when I looked at them and started playing, I found they were really nice and the detail won me over. So nice, in fact, that I bought a few extra and gave them to my coworkers.

The QR code is the best part.. it takes you directly to the drug page. It's really cool to have so much information on one card, and being able to scan for even more is a great feature.

Before you buy

Questions, answered.

The things people ask before their first deck — stock, materials, accuracy, and what actually arrives.

About the deck

What's actually on each card?

Each deck is organized around a hidden clinical key that reflects how practitioners actually think about the subject matter:

  • Narcotic Deck — Face value corresponds to opioid potency by Morphine Milligram Equivalent (MME), allowing stronger opioids to rank higher in the deck. Cards also incorporate differences in bioavailability across routes of administration.
  • Psychiatric Deck — Organized by line of therapy, with Aces representing first-line treatments and higher face cards progressing toward more specialized or treatment-resistant options.
  • Anesthesia Deck — Structured around the perioperative workflow and how medications are commonly organized within anesthesia carts, progressing from induction and maintenance agents through adjuncts, analgesics, and reversals. Cards are also ranked by onset of action.
  • Antibiotic Deck — Organized by antimicrobial spectrum and clinical utility. Compounds are grouped into broad-spectrum agents, Gram-positive coverage, Gram-negative coverage, and anaerobic or niche therapies, progressing from cornerstone agents to more targeted treatments.

Each card also includes a scannable QR code that unlocks a deeper drug profile featuring clinical pearls, pharmacology insights, mechanism of action, and historical context.

This isn't a standard deck with drug names printed on it. It's a carefully curated pharmacology system disguised as a deck of cards—designed for clinicians, students, and collectors who appreciate both scientific rigor and exceptional craftsmanship.

What makes this different from other playing cards?

Most "novelty" decks swap the face cards for a theme and stop there. Here, every card is individually designed — unique illustration, unique compound, unique clinical data. The organizational system (potency ranking, drug class grouping) is built by a pharmacist, not a graphic designer.

The result is a deck you can actually learn from, not just look at.

Is this actually useful, or just decorative?

Both — intentionally. The clinical ranking system, molecular structures, and QR-linked drug profiles reward pharmacy students, residents, and clinicians who decode them. For everyone else, it's a conversation-starting collector's piece with genuine intellectual depth.

It plays like a premium deck that's also a hidden reference index.

Is there a collector box for the 4-deck set?

Yes — the gold-foiled rigid box built to hold all four decks, with a magnetic closure. It is orderable now.

Two ways to get it. The Complete Set + Collector's Box at $179.95 bundles it with all four decks — $19.95 less than buying the two separately. Or the box on its own at $49.95 if you already own the decks.

Both are preorders and ship mid-September 2026. You are charged today and your order is reserved from the first production run.

Quality & materials

What kind of card stock is this, and how do they handle?

310 GSM air-linen embossed casino-grade stock with a black core that prevents light bleed during play. The embossed finish creates microscopic air pockets between cards — they glide cleanly, fan evenly, and have the firm snap serious card players expect.

These are not thin promotional cards. They handle like a quality deck should.

How durable are the cards over time?

The heavy GSM stock and casino-grade finish are designed for repeated handling. They resist warping better than standard cardstock and maintain their snap over time.

For collectors keeping a display copy: store out of direct sunlight and humidity, same as any premium paper collectible.

Are the designs AI-generated?

No. Every card begins as a hand-drawn concept developed with a professional illustrator. Clinical content is pharmacist-curated, and molecular structures are sourced from PubChem — not generated.

These are built as collector-grade educational art pieces, made to the standard of fine playing cards, not novelty ones.

Are the clinical details actually accurate?

Yes — and that's not a throwaway claim. The decks are designed and reviewed by a licensed PharmD. Drug names, molecular structures, potency rankings, and clinical callouts are verified against established pharmacological references.

Medical insiders have spotted details on these cards that they'd expect to find in a formulary, not a card game.

Gifting

Is this a good gift for someone in pharmacy or medicine?

It's one of the more unusual things a clinician will receive — because it's actually relevant to what they do. Pharmacists, residents, nurses, and students consistently respond to the potency-ranking system and the molecular accuracy.

It works as a desk piece, something to decode, or something they'll genuinely show people.

Is this a good gift for someone not in healthcare?

Yes. The cards are visually striking without requiring any clinical background to appreciate them. The QR codes give curious non-insiders a way to explore deeper on their own.

If the recipient likes science, design, or unusual collector pieces — this lands. If you're unsure, the 30-day return policy makes it a low-risk call.

Pricing

Why does this cost more than a regular deck?

Standard novelty decks are printed in bulk on thin stock with off-the-shelf art. These are printed on 310 GSM air-linen embossed casino-grade cardstock with a black light-blocking core — the same spec used in high-end card rooms. Every card face was individually illustrated and clinically curated.

The $39.95 MSRP is consistent with other premium small-batch collector decks. You're paying for the material, the research, and the design hours — not just the print run.

Ordering & shipping

What does shipping cost?

Free on U.S. orders over $75 — two decks clear the threshold.

U.S. orders under $75 carry a flat rate, shown at checkout before you pay.

Canada is a flat $19.95 USD, tracked, on any order. The $75 threshold is U.S. only. Your checkout total is shown in Canadian dollars, so the converted amount is what you'll see before paying.

Do you ship internationally?

We ship to the United States and Canada. No other countries yet.

Canadian orders are a flat $19.95 USD, tracked. We're not publishing a guaranteed delivery window for Canada yet — you'll get tracking as soon as your order leaves the warehouse.

Any duties, taxes, brokerage, or customs fees are set by Canadian customs or the carrier, are not included in your shipping rate or order total, and are the recipient's responsibility.

When will I receive my order?

In-stock orders ship within 1 business day via USPS or UPS. Tracking is emailed automatically, and everything ships in protective collector-grade mailers.

Preorders — the Collector's Box and the Complete Set + Collector's Box — ship mid-September 2026. You are charged at checkout and your order is reserved from the first production run.

Either way you'll receive a confirmation immediately, and a shipping notification the moment your order leaves the warehouse.

What happens right after I purchase?

You'll receive an order confirmation by email within minutes. If your item is in stock, it ships within 1 business day with tracking included. For preorders, you'll get a confirmation now and a shipping notification when your deck is on its way.

If anything is unclear, reply directly to your confirmation email and we'll handle it.
